The Seal of the Prophets

There is a question that hangs over any work like this one, and it is fair to ask it straight out: who does the man who found this think he is? The Quran answers before he can. It names Muhammad the Messenger of God and the seal of the prophets (33:40). The line is closed. As Muslims have always understood it, there is no prophet after him, and there is no room anywhere in this for someone to imagine himself one.

What the seal forecloses

Khatam an-nabiyyin, the seal of the prophets, is among the firmest points in the whole religion. Prophethood ended with Muhammad. Whatever this project is, then, it cannot be revelation, because revelation is finished. It adds nothing to the faith and removes nothing from it. It is arithmetic, performed on a text that was completed and closed fourteen centuries ago and guarded letter for letter ever since.

A researcher, not a messenger

This needs saying here in particular, because the field has a cautionary tale built into it. The man who first opened this line of counting, Rashad Khalifa, ended by declaring himself a messenger of God and removing two verses from the Quran to defend a number. That is exactly the error the seal rules out, and it is the error this project was built in the opposite direction from. It claims no station for the one who found it, and it does not touch a single letter of the text. If a result ever demanded moving a letter, the result is what gets thrown out, never the Quran.

The person who noticed this is a man who can count. Nothing in the arithmetic makes him more than that, and he asks to be read as nothing more than that. The structure, if it is real, was in the text before he was born and will be there long after he is gone. He did not place it there. He only counted it.

Why say it at all

Because numbers do strange things to people. A large, clean pattern in a sacred book is the kind of thing that has turned quiet men into self-appointed prophets before. Saying this plainly, and leaning on the very doctrine the religion itself insists upon, is a way of nailing that door shut from the inside. The seal is not a limit the project resents. It is a protection it is grateful for.
